The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bindura Nickel Corporation Limited, Mr. KK Mpinga, announces the appointment of David EH Murangari to the position of Managing Director of Bindura Nickel Corporation with effect from 1st May 2007.
David brings a wealth of experience to the Mwana Africa Group, having spent years in the mining industry in Ethiopia, Zambia, Colorado (USA), and Zimbabwe, as well as being involved in international assignments as an expert on geosciences. His career started on a potash project in Ethiopia, followed by six years in mineral exploration in Zambia (for Anglo American Corp.), and a short stint in Colorado.
David joins Bindura Nickel Corporation from the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe, where he was the Chief Executive Officer since 1999. Prior to that engagement, he was Managing Director of Trillion Zimbabwe, a position he assumed after a long stint in Government where he started off as Regional Geologist for Harare Mining District in 1980 and rose to the post of Secretary for Mines when he retired from civil service by 1997.
Whilst at the then Ministry of Mines, David represented the Government of Zimbabwe at many conferences, symposia and seminars that dealt with investment in exploration, development and utilization of mineral resources in Zimbabwe and Africa; accumulating knowledge and experience which will be invaluable to the Mwana Africa Group as it endeavours to position itself on the African Mining scene.
David is a member of boards of directors of ZISCO, Mining Industry Pension Fund, Zimbabwe Power Company and Cluff Mining Zimbabwe.
The Bindura Nickel Corporation Limited Board and the Mwana Africa plc group is delighted to have David at the helm of their flagship company BNC and are confident that under his leadership the entity will yield good results.
